LIS - Livestock Information Service - England UK
The Livestock Information Service (LIS) is a joint government-industry scheme to create a single system of registration and tracing for livestock in England. LIS is being led by AHDB on behalf of Defra. This will replace three existing systems: ARAMS for sheep, BCMS for cattle and EAML2 for pigs.

LIS Replaced ARAMS - 26th March 2022 - 1st of April
The services started by replacing ARAMS for the notification of sheep and goat movements. ARAMS is now history, the new LIS service has now been in operation for over 12 months.
It is TIME YOU registered via the LIP website.
WHY REGISTER WITH LIP?
WHY! because it gives you a chance to see what the government has on you, That's WHY. Yes you can register movements, but that is not as useful as knowing what the inspector (RED TRACTOR,RPA,or Trading Standards) is expecting to see! That way you can put it right before he arrives and starts digging!
FarmIT 3000 and LIS
Development of FarmIT 3000 to communicate with the LIS system is now complete for the notification of sheep movements. The functions for cattle will then follow as the LIS system develops. FarmIT 3000 is one of the first software packages to work with the LIS system. Users should ensure they have updated their FarmIT 3000 Software to the Latest version - 5.0.0.124 and that they have registered with an LIS account.
WHAT can you do?
Notify Movements
Yes! you can notify movements electronically, thus saving on sending in the paperwork.
Check Movements
Yes you can check movements, i.e see a list of movements you have done, or what other people have done involving your farm and holding number(s).
Download Movements You have Missed
You can even download a movement you may have missed recording at the time<, for example download the list of tag numbers for a movement to market or slaughter.
From ARAMS to LIS
Introduced in 2015 ARAMS has never caught the enthusiasm of the farmers and shepherds in England. Given the need to always fill in the paper works, why would you then go to a website and repeat the process. It should also be remembered that because it was always the responsibility of the receiver to complete and notify ARAMS, which for most movements of sheep is actual a market or slaughter house, most farmers had little to do with the online services ARAMS was providing. Most farmers receiving sheep simply complete the paper work and put it in the post.
No Change to the Paper Work!
Now does the new LIS system change this? The short answer is NO. So will farmer be more engaged with the new LIS system? This is yet to be seen. Most farmers may not see a great deal of change until LIS replaces BCMS for the registration of cattle births, movements and deaths. Given BCMS has worked very well over the last 20 Years, LIS had better live up to its billing!
Of course, LIS is operated by Livestock Information LTD and is a company owned jointly by AHDB and DEFRA, So part funded by the Farm Levy! It is already settings its sights on improving the world with grand corporate statements....

LIS will make it easier to report movements, improve the quality and availability of data in the process and will eventually bring existing traceability systems together for sheep, goats and deer, cattle, and pigs."
Will Livestock Information Ltd delivery this? we will not have long to wait. Will the Farmers, Users and TAX payers be impressed? Let's just say that Livestock Information Ltd may have their work cut out in the coming months.
For farmers in Scotland and Wales of course this is all irrelevant as they have their own systems, Scot EID and EID Cymru.
The one thing for sure! you may miss the shutting down of ARAMS and the introduction of LIS on the 1st of April 2022. Let's hope its NOT an April Fool!
