Cattle Pedigree Records and Recording

Irrespective of how large a herd is you have, or whether you run a pedigree or purely commercial herd, keeping breeding records can be extreamly useful and increase profits.

Breeding Records

FarmIT 3000 provides all the information you need to record your breeding in full whether you are a pedigree breeder or not. This includes all aspects of breeding from service to weaning, including embryo implantation, PD ing, automatic identification of sire on gestation, Calving records, ease of Calving, calving problems, prolaspe and abortion.

It also provides analysis tools for calving, year on year breeding, problems and disease, pedigree realtionship and weighing. Analysis of Sire and Dam prodegy performance.

EID (electronic identification

We have been using EID on farm to collect breeding data since 2004. Since then reader and tags have improved greatly and the introduction of mandatory tagging of breeding ewe with EID since 2010 has seen a great increase in farmers using EID reader to record breeding record.

We provide EID readers and routines that allow you to collect data in the field which is then imported directly into our FarmIT 3000 software. Literally from field to analysis in minutes.

Although using EID is usefull, it does not have the major benifits in cattle that are found in recording sheep. Most people simply do not have the numbers of animals to justify the cost. Also given that with a hand held reader you need to 'touch' (8 cm) the eid ear tag, this is often impractical when calving given that the cow is not best pleased with you interfering with her or her calf, therefore keying the ear tag number in is often easier especially when the software only needs you to enter the last three digits of the cows ear tag number.. Our FarmIT Mobile software will run on any windows mobile 6 device. The greatest advantage is that the identifity of the cow can be validated in the field, rather than finding out in the office that that animal has already calved.

The Animal Record Card

Each animal has its own record card which bring together all the animals data including its basic information and multiple 'Tabs' for movements, Management groups, Notes, Calving, breeding, pedigree, vet and med, medical tests,weight record, EID audit log, Profit and loss. All data may be entered manually for a single animal on its record card, but we tend to do it in mass with EID!.

Services, AI, and Embryo Implantation Records.

We like to be fexiable! and FarmIT provides for a wide range of customers. The sheep year starts with tupping and we provide you with the ability to not only record the day the ram went in, but which ram for how long, followed by a second (Chaser), removeal of embryo and implantation into a surrogate ewe. Thankfully most of you keep it simple.

PD records

PD records allow you to record the in calf/not in calf, estimate weeks into gestation. Most of our customers do have the VET PD their cattle, then adjust feeding and calving accordingly.

Weaning records

Each animal within the system has a weaning date, Any weight record withing 10 days of this date (if not the same date) is taken as the weaning weight. You may then compare this weight from the perspective of the calf or cow. For more information on weighing see weighing and recording Cattle

Reporting and Analysis

FarmIT 3000 includes both fixed reporting and analysis tools. Fixed reports provide listings of the raw data for example list of lambing records, scanning records, tupping records etc and summary reports of production per season etc.  Analysis tools provide flexiable data grids where you may apply filters, select and sort columns etc. Both reports and analysis tool can print and export data. You may also click on records and go directly to the animals full breeding card.

Calving Analysis

Calving analysis provide analysis of a single calving seaon from service through to weaning. It allows you to revue service dates, scanning, calving and weaning, ewe by ewe, line by line. It also provide sire confirmation by showing actual and calculated service dates, and gestation analysis etc

Breeding Analysis

Breeding analysis bring together a cows calving history into a single line by line analysis. This includes her age, number of calving records, number of calves, still borns, deaths, average weight gain and number sold and on farm. You may select/hide and sort columns and size them.

FarmIT 3000 provide all the information you need for full pedigree records, with links to sire and dam, prodegy and pedigree trees. It also provides analysis of problems and disease effecting animals, their prodegy and parents. Allows you to analyse sire or dam performance, i.e calving patterns, fertility and medical treatments.
