Ritchie Combie Clamp and EID
The Ritchie CombiClamp is a cracking bit of kit when it comes to handling sheep and provides restraint of the animal with easy access to back and front making jobs like dagging much easier.
It is also possible to use the CombiClamp with a static EID reader and fit load
bars and weigh scales, thus extending the functionality of the CombiClamp to hands
free weighing and recording. This is then a very positive scenario as there is
no excuse for not weighing your sheep when you have them in for a spot of
treatment. Combining all tasks into one saves considerable time! FarmIT 3000
customers who have purchased the CombiClamp seem more than happy and we should
be able to put you in touch with at least one of them for a chat.
Like all equipment it takes abit of getting used to and if you are weighing your
sheep you do need to be careful just what you pick up. The reason for this is
easy to understand. The load cells for weighing are positioned under the combi
clamp and therefore the weight includes you (as the operator stands on the
CombiClamp). It is of course easy to zero your weight out. However please
remember that if you jump off, pick up a 5 Litre bottle of drench and then jump
back on again, you need to re-zero out not only your weight but also the drench,
otherwise you have a lamb that has just put on 5 Kilos in seconds.
