ROUND THE CLOCK SUPPORT KEEPS TY-DU FARM SATISFIED

Ruth Watkins and her husband own Ty-du farm in Monmouthshire. An organic livestock farm of some 190 acres, Ty-du is part of the Graig Farm Producer group and is dedicated to rearing beef and sheep to the highest standards.

With an enormous workload and only her sister to help, Ruth has been looking for ways to ease the time spent keeping farm records and accounts.

 “I had a lot of problems getting technical support from the previous company I dealt with,” says Ruth. “Upgrades were slow and expensive. Graig Farm Producers were talking about FarmIT 3000 for some time before it was actually available, so I was eagerly waiting for its arrival.

 “I wanted a program that had an accountancy package included so plumped for the FarmIT 3000 Gold. I was one of the first people to use the program and I have encouraged many others to follow.”

 The old accounts system Ruth had used was complicated, archaic and not very user friendly.  Her bad experience with farming software made her nervous about using the accountancy package on FarmIT 3000 Gold. 

 “I wasn’t looking forward to it and did initially have a few problems but Martin at Border Software was at the end of the phone even at 9 o’clock at night!

 “I have three lots of accounts to do and I found it very user friendly. You don’t have to worry about end of year or accountancy periods but with my old system you could only work one month at a time.”

Ruth adds, “Obviously the first time you use it there is a lot of information to input so it takes time, but now it is done I can just add to it as I go along, I’m very pleased.”

 Ruth is particularly impressed with the level of service she gets from Border Software. “Martin is always updating the program via the feedback he gets from the producers who are using it. Updates are frequent and relevant.”
