FarmIT Mobile is our app and is available for windows mobile devices and android device. It if designed to compliment and work with the FarmIT 3000 farm management software.

Windows mobile has and is still used on many devices but was mainly aimed at business devices for use in warehouses, supply chain and specialist mobile device. This includes the PSION workabout range which for many years has been the leader in this field and has been our solution of choice for many years as it also has the option to have an Agrident EID reader bolted onto it.

The android operating system was developed to provide a alternative to the Mirosoft and Apple domination back in the 1990's and has become the default operating system of chioce for manufacturers across the world as it was free to them to put on their devices. So there are thousands of devices running android, from phone, to tablets to the very latest Google Laptop. Android is now dominating the phone market unless you buy an Apples IO. But that does not mean that all android device work well. This is reflected in the price range with a cheap tablet available for under £100 and a military spec one available at over £2500. The other issue is that with so many device manufactured, things like different screen sizes, different battery life and no keyboards can make using the device on farm rather auckward. No to mention if you are recording cattle weights on your phone and the phone rings, your recording has to come to a stop will you answer your phone. However the avialability and low cost of these device, with enhanced functionality such as GPS location make them a very usefull tool for use on farm.
